Cocoa & Mango & Shea, Oh my!

Butters, butters everywhere, but what should you choose? I know how you feel. I've been in that aisle at the health food store looking for something to soothe my itchy bearded face only to scratch my chin more trying to read ALL the ingredients on the back of ALL the products. It can be overwhelming to say the least, so I broke them down for you.

Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter is extracted straight from the cacao bean. It's a moisturizer with one of the most highly concentrated fats available and has been used for thousands of years. Cocoa butter boosts your immune system. It contains cocoa mass polyphenol or CMP which has positive effects on heart disease, arthritis, cholesterol, and even cancer cells! Mango Butter

Mango butter is extracted from the fruit kernel off of the mango tree. It's highly emollient, which means it increases the skin's hydration by reducing evaporation. Mango butter protects against the effects of UV radiation and is generally used to treat skin rash, insect bites, eczema, and even sunburn or frostbite. Mango butter is a harder butter than most so it is usually mixed with other ingredients to soften it and make it easier to apply. Shea Butter 

Shea butter is extracted from the mangifolia nut tree that is found in Africa. It's rich in fatty acids and protects your skin by locking in moisture. It's rich in vitamins A, D, mainly E and a little bit of F too. It's used to treat burns, insect bites, diaper rash, eczema and psoriasis. *Avoid if you have severe nut allergies. Natural skin care is very important. Your skin absorbs everything contained in products, including the chemical additives like phthalates which are toxic plasticizers. Give your skin the best and read the ingredients list on the back of products. Ingredients are always listed in order of greatest amount to least amount. Butters should be listed as the top 2 ingredients and shouldn't list a huge amount of other things. Educate yourself about what is going on your skin and into your body. Your body and beard will thank you for treating it so well.

    I love shea butter! Haven’t specifically tried mango butter, but after reading your description, I just might! Your products make me wish I had a beard!
